We’re at different stages, but the three of us are undeniably IN the “Sandwich Generation.”
We’re frantically making alternate plans for kid pick-ups while unexpectedly rushing to the hospital to care for our parents. All while helping our teens navigate college planning. Oh, and also juggling all of our other “middle adulting” responsibilities.
We’ve realized that the “Sandwich Generation” isn’t just a demographic, it’s a high-stakes balancing act. We started GenBetween because we wanted to trade the frantic ‘winging-it’ for actual strategy. We wanted to master middle adulting, and we didn’t want to do it alone.

Founder
When my dad died unexpectedly a few years ago, I was juggling a legal career and the crazy schedules of two busy kids. I had never imagined I would suddenly need to become my mom’s sole caregiver, managing her finances, estate planning, living arrangements and health care. I was thrown into this role with no preparation, and had to learn the often complicated dos-and-don’ts on the fly while also navigating parenthood. I’ve made it my mission to arm others with the info and community they need to survive and thrive during the GenBetween years.

My middle adulting journey started in my mid-thirties. Married for two years, working as a logistics planner, pregnant with our first child. Then, my mother’s health took a turn and she moved in with us. Suddenly, I was managing my career, a new baby and the needs of an elderly parent. Over the next 20 years I juggled the demands of all three full-time jobs. I was in the “Sandwich” and didn’t even realize it.

Being part of The Gen Between means living right in the thick of it, and I’m right there with you. As a mom of three daughters and a daughter myself now navigating the new waters of supporting my aging parents, I am intimately familiar with the beautiful, chaotic juggle of the sandwich generation. When I’m not working to protect the next generation in my Youth Substance Use Prevention role, I’m channeling my playful spirit into helping run Kazoo Boutique. I try to bring heart, humor, and a lot of caffeine to everything I do.
